Conquer AdventureParkHK together - Explore the Hidden Mysteries

Grab four friends and compete against other teams together.

But there’s a catch.

Every team member has to compete without sight, hearing or voice, or with arms or legs restricted.

Together you need to navigate AdventureParkHK – and explore the mysterious places in Hong Kong with a different character.

Barrier Busters

Starting Point and Finishing Line:
Chater Road (Pedestrian precinct), Central


Format:

  1. Form a team of 5
  2. Each team will be given an “AdventureParkHK” map and has to complete all assigned and optional tasks to gain points within 3 hours. The team that returns to the finishing line within time limit with the highest points will be the winner.
  3. Some tasks will require team members to wear special devices to simulate various kinds of persons with disabilities (e.g. wheelchair users, the visually impaired, the hearing impaired), and persons with chronic illnesses.

Category and Minimum Fundraising Pledge:

1.      School Team

F.3 or above full time student

$500

2.      User Challenge Team

Persons with disabilities and chronic illnesses, as well as their family and friends are welcomed

No more than 2 wheelchair users should be included.

3.      Family Team

No more than 2 children aged 6-13 should be included

(Please separate into 2 teams if there are more than 2 children)

4.      Open Team

People aged 14 or above (As of 3 November 2019)

*Electronic charitable donation receipt will be issued for donations of HK$100 or above for you to claim tax deduction.An email notification will be sent within a month after the event.

Awards:

  • Top three Highest Fundraising Team and Top three Highest Fundraising Individual Award (Cut off time: 12:00am, 27 October 2019, Sunday)
  • “Barrier Busters” Tournament: Top two winners in each category
  • “Barrier Busters” Medal & Certificate: All participants will receive a medal and a certificate at Finishing Line.

Souvenirs:

The following souvenirs will be given to each participants:

1) A T-shirt


2) A goodie bag

3) A medal


Registration Remarks:

  1. Each team should arrange a team contact person. Updated information will be announced to team members through the contact person by email or Whatsapp.
  2. If you wish to change the enrollment information, please immediately send an email to [email protected] with the name and phone number of the contact person. We will reply with a confirmation email.
  3. Mandatory free workshops will be arranged. Please assign at least 2 members to attend.
  4. Participants aged under 18 are required to be accompanied by parents or guardians when completing the registration.
  5. Text, photos, audio and/or video will be recorded during the event for promotion and retention.
  6. Participants have to abide by the rules and conditions as laid down by The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation (HKSR). Participants should also absolve HKSR and any sponsor / supporting organizations from any and all liabilities arising from bodily injuries, accidents, death or other losses during or caused by travelling to and from the event venue as well as during the event.
  7. In case of any dispute, HKSR reserves the right of final decision.


Pre-event workshops for participants:


Please assign at least two members from each team to attend free pre-event workshops which:

 

  1. Event rundown and important reminders will be announced.
  2. Concepts and ideas of Barrier-free will be introduced to help completing the race.
  3. The blueprint for social inclusion in Hong Kong and the practical tips for corporate and individual to build an inclusive society will be learnt.

Be a Fundraiser and Tackle Rehabilitation Obstacles:

Purpose:

Barrier Busters is an annual signature event for community education and fundraising of The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation(HKSR). We also aim to further our efforts of advocating for diversity and inclusion through this annual occasion. The funds raised will support HKSR' s rehabilitation services which transform the lives of persons with disabilities & chronic illnesses in. Every HK$1,000 raised can support 6 persons with chronic illnesses and in financial hardship, allowing them to have timely community-based rehabilitation.
