Barrier Busters

Conquer AdventureParkHK together

Grab five friends and race against other teams to complete the course.

But there’s a catch.

Each team member competes without sight, hearing or voice, or with arms or legs restricted.

Together you must navigate AdventureParkHK – and overcome the invisible, but very real, physical challenges many people face every day.

The fun and excitement starts in Central on Sunday morning 14 January 2018.

"Barrier Busters Playground" will be organized in the afternoon on Jan 14th. Public are welcomed to participate and enjoy the experience booth, guided tour, games & snacks. For details, please visit the event page (here).

Barrier Busters

Date: 14 January 2018 (Sun)

Starting Time: 9:30 am

Starting Point and Finishing Line: Chater Road (Pedestrian precinct), Central


Format:

  1. Form your team with 5 people
  2. Each team will be given a “AdventureParkHK” map with all tasks marked. Each team has to accomplish assigned and optional tasks to gain points within 2.5 hours. The team that returns to the finishing line within time limit with the highest points will be the winner.
  3. Some tasks will require each teammates to wear special devices to perform the role of various kinds of people with disability, e.g. Persons on wheelchair, the visually impaired and people with chronic illness, etc.

Category and Minimum Fundraising Pledge:

1.      School Team

F.3 or above full time student

$160

2.      User Challenge Team

This special team is for people with disabilities and chronic illnesses, and their family and friends.

Each team should include no more than two wheelchair users.

3.      Family Team

No more than 2 children aged 9 or above

$800

4.      Open Team

Age 14 or above (As of 14 January,2018)

5.      Corporate Team

A list of Corporate Teams will be published in the event booklet to accredit their participation on social inclusion

*Donation with HKD 100 or above will be issued with tax deductible receipt. The e-donation receipt will be available to download. An email notification will be sent in a month after the event day.

Awards:

  • Highest Fundraising Group, Highest Fundraising Individual (Cut off at 12:00am, 7 January 2018 (Sunday))
  • “Barrier Busters” Tournament: Top three winners of each team category
  • “Barrier Busters” Medal & Certificate: All participants will receive a medal and certification at Finishing Line.


Registration Remarks:

  1. Each team may arrange one team contact person
    • As contact person of the team. We will contact the team contact person by email or Whatsapp and announce the updated information
    • Channel information to teammates
  2. If you have to change the enrolled information, please send email to [email protected] and we will reply you for confirmation of change.
  3. We will have one briefing session for the activity. We encourage all team members to join and please mark your availability.
  4. Attendance of parents or guardians of participants aged under 18 is required for completing the registration.
  5. We will take photos and videotape special moments in the event for promotion.
  6. Each participant has to abide by the rules and conditions as laid down by The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation (HKSR), absolve the Organizer and any sponsor / supporting organizations from any and all liabilities arising from bodily injuries, accidents, death or other losses during or caused by travelling to and from the event venue as well as during the event.
  7. Should any dispute arise, decisions from HKSR shall be final.
